Rollbacks are a great way to quickly test if something is caused by a PR or not.

In a similar situation, I'd have created a test to reproduce the alleged issue with my PR. A test is a win-win because if it fails, I know it was me. If it won't, I have evidence that it wasn't me.

Thanks for the mention, Basma!

I agree, Akos. Tests are an easy and quick way to prove a concept. I will definitely lookout for this one next time!

Thank you, Tinashe! I didn't know you have an IT job! Which field do you work in IT? :)

And, yes I agree about the significance and big difference "owning the problem" makes.

I notice that the more I feel "it's not my problem" the more it means it's actually is and I should act fast. It's weird 😆

I have been working in IT for the last 16 years, Currently, I am in Application Support. We must share notes sometimes. It is about acting fast to resolve as some bugs/errors take more effort to resolve. I enjoyed your article.

I really like how you mention about your hunch being a negative bias, it's really good to raise awareness of this 🙌🙌

Thank you, Jade! I think biases exist and rise in many situations. Awareness of it matters because pushing it under the rug, makes the problem worse. So, I think that being honest of ourselves and aligning with our values, without hurting others is core!

Do you experience biases as well?

Great story, I hope you folks had a blameless post mortem later and took away learnings from it.

Thank you, Akash! Yeah fortunately, we have a blame free environment. But, I received a private feedback about it. Which I think was fair.

From our mistakes we learn!
